Part 6- Is Tyler Safe?

Gabriel gently takes my right hand with his left hand, as Megan slowly peers out the door. The zombie is now racing down the stairs towards us. Megan whispers, “I don’t see or hear anything right now.” She steps outside the door, with Jayson following right behind her.

I look up at the zombie coming down the stairs, then to Gabriel’s warm, gentle eyes, “It’s ok, Vince, I’m here for you.” Yes, he is...and that scares me the most.

The zombie is getting a lot closer as I whisper out to Gabriel, “I don’t want to lose you.”

He gently wipes away a stray tear on my cheek as he whispers back to me, “Then let's get out of this stairwell before I have to fight this zombie to keep my Baby safe.” Dear God, he really is a one of a kind of man and I am very lucky to have him. I smile a little before allowing him to pull me through the door. Megan and Jayson push a giant statue and a large bench in front of the door. Just in time to hear the zombie bash into the door. I watch in horror as Gabriel walks over to an open doorway, “Hello!”

Why, Baby, why?!?! Never yell out hello during a zombie apocalypse. Not even if you know the zombies can say hello back….How odd would that be. Think about it. You're just sitting on your couch watching tv and you know there are zombies outside your house, you hear the door crash open….instead of running and hiding you decide to yell out, ‘hello’ and then you hear, in a zombie voice, ‘hi’. Now that has to be a very terrifying moment indeed. At least for me it would be. Yeah, no, not going to happen with me.

“Gabriel, what are you doing?” I try to pull him back, but then something happens to distract me. A small cry, not a small grownup cry, but a small baby cry. The daycare!!! We have to save the babies! I run as fast as my legs let me. As I come closer to the door I hear odd sounds behind it…...No..no...no...no!!! Tears cloud my eyes as the noises behind the door intensify. Growls. Not an animal growl but an odd, zombie baby kind of growl. My worst fears have come alive. The babies were zombies and most likely, Tyler was now a zombie baby. I can not hear or see anything as my tears intensify. My little brothers smiling face comes to me over and over again as I continue to pray to God for a miracle. Not a miracle to save myself, but a miracle to save the smiling, blue eyed, blond haired, baby boy whose face now flooded my thoughts. Megan is now hugging me. I feel her body moving along with her uncontrollable cries. We sit on the floor in a tight embrace as our cries combine.

Jayson and Gabriel are softly talking to us as if we were frightened, lonely puppies. After a while of nothing but tears and soft words, Megan and I finally start to gather our strength and minds. I didn't realize we were leaning against the Daycare’s door until I heard a voice cry out, from somewhere within the zombie babies’ growls, “Please, help us!” That did it, the little cry I heard earlier is now going off once more. I swear, it is Tyler's cries. Then again, it could just be wishful thinking playing with my head. “Please!! Help!!” That’s not a baby's cry, that's…….holy cow…..that's Tina’s voice. Tina is Megan’s best friend, she takes her baby sister to the day care in the mornings before her and Megan walk to school together.

Megan is now on her feet and facing the door. She is so shocked to hear Tina's voice. You can hear it in her voice as she yells out, “Tina!!” We hear no response, our eyes are fixed on the door as we wait for Tina to answer Megan. The zombie at the stairwell is now louder than before. It actually sounds like he may have found a few a zombie friends to help him out. Great, that's all we need. “Tina! Where are you?!” You can hear it in Megan's voice, she's about to lose all hope if Tina doesn't respond to her cries.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Tina finally yells back, “Megan! Please help us!”

My eyes are now fixated on the stairwell door. The banging, growls, moans and other odd noises are intensifying by the minute. They have managed to open the door about an inch so far. We race over to the stairwell door to add more to the barricade as Megan continues to yell out to Tina. “Where are you in the Daycare, Tina?!?!” Why would she be asking that? What, does she plan to barrage through a crowd of baby zombies to try to free them?

That’s when my memory kicks in, sometimes it leaves me, then comes back to remind me randomly of certain things I heard or seen. You know, important things I should have already remembered but still somehow slipped my mind when I absolutely need to remember them. Happens to me a lot. Mom says it only happens because I'm not paying attention. I think it happens because…..dang it, Mom’s right. I wasn’t paying close enough attention. You see, there is one important word Tina mentioned earlier, us. She is yelling out for help not just for herself. I know the odds are slim, but there is still a chance Tyler is still safe. Well for the minute that is.

I race back over to the Daycare just as a gunshot goes off from somewhere behind us down the hall in the opposite direction. Averting our eyes down the hall we see a man carrying a pistol racing towards us. As he gets closer I realize it's my father's best friend Greg. As he is running towards us, I hear him yell out, “Get out of the hallway!” While waving his arms and gun in the air like a madman. You can't blame him, look at what is going on around us. If I didn't have others with me I most likely would have been running through the halls butt naked screaming, ‘The end is here!’ Thank God I have a group with me. He is now within ten feet of us as I see a large group of zombies race around the corner behind him. Oh crap, now what? He yells out once more before turning to shot the closest zombie in the head, “Get out of the hallway!” Yeah, you don’t have to tell me twice…..Ok, maybe this time I did need to hear it twice before my adrenaline finally kicked in and I turned on my heels and started a mad dash down the hallway with Megan, Jayson and Gabriel right beside me. You can be sure, next time you won’t have to tell me twice. I learned my lesson fast.

Part 5 - Gabriel to the Rescue?

Jayson and I step back to look at my sister’s master plan in work. Amazingly….it’s holding, at least for the time being. The zombie is now slamming its body against the door. We need to get out before he breaks the broom. Megan is screaming something at us, but I am too dazed and shocked about what all has happened, and still is happening…...what about our parents and Tyler. Mom and Dad would most likely be fine, they can fend for themselves, but Tyler...he has no chance. We have to get to the first floor and grab him from the Daycare. Megan is now turning red in the face as she stands right in front of me. I finally understand what she is screaming, “Answer your phone, Vince!”

My phone? Holy cow, my phone was ringing and I never noticed. To make matters worse it was Gabriel calling. I sure hope he doesn't think I have been ignoring him. Before pushing the talk button, I noticed I missed two calls from him. Crap, I really need to get it together. “Gabriel, I am so sorry. I spaced out for a few seconds….” Megan is now glaring at me, as she shakes her head ‘no’. “I mean a few minutes..?” She smiles slightly as she agrees with my comment now. I hear his soft masculine laughter over the phone as the zombie’s body slams against the door again. Which pulls me back to what is important. “Are you safe, Gabriel?” God, you are such an idiot, Vince. Stop him from coming into the apartment building! “Gabriel, stay away from the apartment building. We will meet up with you at the store across the street after we get Tyler from the Daycare.” The zombie growls behind the door before trying the doorknob again. “We are now living in a horror movie….I don’t want anything to happen to you. So to be on the safe side, stay over at the store till we get there. I will explain everything to you then.”

Everyone knows in horror movies the ones you love the most usually die off first. I will not let that happen to my sexy, sweet, gentle…...what was I saying?? Megan is now glaring at me again. Crap, I wish I knew why. Then I hear a new noise over the zombie noises. It's a flute??? Is someone practicing the flute at a time like this?!?! Really?? Wait a minute… The majestic soothing sounds of the flute, soars through the stairwell, echoing off the walls. I know that flute….I also know the owner of that flute, really well. I race over to the railing and look down the stairs. My heart stops in my chest. The only thing I hear is the beautiful song being played as I stare down into Gabriel's eyes. He stops playing and smiles up to me, “Come on, Baby.”

Ha! Yeah, I don’t need to be told twice. Especially not by him. I start to dash down the stairs, all of my thoughts and fears fade away as I jump into his open arms. I stay in them for as long as I can. But of course my sister goes and ruins the moment. As always. “Hello...? There is a zombie trying to kill us!!!”

I turn to give my little sister a very important life lesson, “We know.” I move out of Gabriel's arms as I continue talking to her, “Here's something to think about, Megan.” Grabbing her shoulders, I look deep into her eyes as I state, “If there is one zombie then there most likely is more waiting outside to kill us as well.” She shivers in fear under my grip. Crap, I didn't mean to scare her more…..wait a minute…..dang it!!! Fear is now covering every ounce of thoughts within my head. There is probably thousands of zombies outside!!! See in the country there would have been a few groups of zombies here and there, but in a large city!!! We are so screwed, and not in a good way!

Gabriel is now gently rubbing my back with his left hand as he does the same to Megan with his right hand, “It’s ok, we can do this. As long as we keep it together mentally and physically. Stay together as a group and always keep the negative thoughts at bay. Just till we can get to safety...ok?” We both whimper, ‘ok’, under our breaths. “Alright, now where is the daycare at?” I can’t help it, he's just way too hot when he takes charge. Am I drooling? I sure hope not. Do you think he would notice at a time like this?

Then, I snap out of it and start to pull it all together, for Tyler’s sake. We have to get to him before the zombies do...Oh my god, what if they already got to him?! Ok, Vince, pull it together. I’m sorry, but anybody else terrified of a group of infant and toddler zombies?? I am not just scared that he could be a zombie, but my main fear is…..I never want to have to kill anyone I love, especially not my one year old baby brother. As fear consumes my mind, I start to yell out orders to the group, as we continue down the stairwell, “Ok, here's the deal! If the kids are zombies, we leave them in the daycare and board it up!” I turn to face them and notice tears rolling down Megan’s face. So I continue to explain as my own eyes tear up, “Nobody is killing any babies with me around. Zombies or not…” They nod in agreement as we all turn to continue our descent, to as I see it, the depths of Hell. Not one word is spoken as we reach the first floor door. We hear the door, many floors up, crash open. Most likely our hallway door. Frozen, in front of the first floor door, I don’t have the heart to even open it. The daycare was just down the hallway from this door.

Part 4- Take the Elevator?

I know my sister well. She most likely has a very pissed off expression on her face right now. “Jayson, we can’t get out. That is why we are in here.”

Before any more questions could be asked, I yell out to him, “Come on and help open the vent, Jay!” Cuddles is now curled up against my side, shivering. “The fur ball in the vent is going to drill a hole through it soon.”

As he pulls on the vent cover, I hear him laugh before asking, “I don’t think she can do that?” Megan is screaming as she tries to push on the vent cover again. “Ok, maybe, but then again she is your sister and you know her better than I do.”

I burst into laughter as Megan screams out to him, “Shut up, Jayson, and pull harder!” My phone starts to play….My Boyfriend's Hot As Hell...as a message comes through from Gabriel. Megan yells back to me, “Really! Really, Vince! Is that the only song you could think to put for your boyfriend?!”

Jayson’s now laughing so hard he can barely stand. “Oh man, that's great...hahaha…”

I smile as I read the message from Gabriel~ I am ten minutes away. See you soon, Sweetie.~ Awww, he is so sweet…..

“Yes, Sis, that is the only song that fits him so well.” I smile as butterflies fill my stomach on the thoughts of seeing him soon. The vent suddenly comes open. Megan scrambles out onto the hallway floor as Jayson reaches into the vent. “That’s ok man, I don’t need a hand.”

He laughs before grabbing Cuddles from my outreached hand. “Who said I was saving you.” As he pets and whispers calmly to Cuddles, I start to wonder if my best friend likes me for my puppy. Random odd songs like, He loves me for my puppy and he wants the puppy more than me, start to dance through my mind as I climb out of the vent.

Random thoughts and even calm thoughts all shatter to total fear driven thoughts as another high pitched scream is heard. This time, it was right down the hallway, and it was followed by three gunshots. What is going on! Is the whole building being robbed one apartment at a time? Wait, maybe I was just hearing things. Grabbing my backpack I stand up and look to Jayson and Megan, who are both now standing at the elevator pushing the buttons repeatedly. Well, I guess I wasn’t imagining it. In that case…..”push the buttons faster!” I am terrified... Wouldn’t you be? I stop my frantic attempt to call the elevator to us...just for a second. I just realized something. Looking to Jayson’s back I realize I have something very important for survival. I finally have a bait buddy. Watching him claw and bang at the closed elevator doors soon changes my mind. Ok, not a very good bait buddy but it’s a start...

Everything starts to fall apart around us. Screams throughout the building start to go off like fireworks. Males, females, and even children. No place seems to be safe, they are coming from downstairs, upstairs and even our floor. I can’t even fathom what is happening. Lights start to flicker on and off. The elevator finally arrives. The doors slide open slowly. Relief fills us as they do, but it is soon taken away as the doors open completely. There is no way in Hell someone would expect to see what we were now staring at. Bloody hand prints decorated the whole inside of the first elevator. No dead body, but something bad went down in this elevator. If you believe we would dare get on to that disgusting death trap then you have another thing coming. Nope, not going to happen. Nothing dead or alive could ever get me to ride that elevator.

We all looked to each other, just as another wave of screams and gunfire started to go off again. I choke on my own words as I struggle to say, “Let's..try..the other...elevator.”

They both nod their heads, but their eyes are still transfixed on the bloody screen in the elevator. The next elevator should be safe….right? Wrong, so very wrong. The next elevator also is covered in blood. To make things more interesting, there is even a dead body in this one. Come on! What did I do to deserve this?!?! The unexpected takes a turn for the worst. You would think it couldn’t get any worse than it already was, right? At least I didn't think it could…..boy was I wrong. Nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, now I am watching in disbelief as the dead body starts to twitch and move. Aww come on! No, no, no, please anything but that…...It is now standing and glaring at the three of us. Yup, it's exactly what I was afraid of. His glazed over, death filled eyes stare me down as I slowly slide backwards along the wall towards the stairs.

Jayson and Megan are now dashing down the hall towards the stairs while I am still sliding along the wall having a staring contest with…...you guessed it…..a zombie. Yup, things just went down the drain. Ok, I can do this. All I have to do is keep my eyes fixed on his and he won’t charge me…..Jayson grabs my arm and basically drags my frightened butt down the hallway to the stairs. As I am being half dragged down the hallway I start to remember some zombie movies. Ok, zombies are slow….wait some shows they can run……. Taking a quick glimpse behind us confirms what type of zombie this guy is. He is now dashing towards us at full speed. Yup, he’s a runner. This defiantly puts things into a more dangerous dash for safety.

Megan has reached the stairwell entrance and is now yelling back to us, “Hurry, he is right behind you!”

What?!?! No, don’t look, Vince. Whatever you do, do not look behind you. Looking behind me I find the zombie is now only a few feet away from us. Why, why did I look?!?! Nevermind, I know why. I’m an idiot that's why! We reach the stairs and quickly slam the door behind us. Ok, safe. There is now a door between us and the zombie. Pfft, zombies can't use doors. Scratching, banging and then the door knob starts to turn. Oh come on!!!! Jayson and I both slam our backs against the door. The zombie is now pushing and winning…..but Megan surprises both of us as she runs up with a large broom in her hands. She slides the broom behind a pipe on one side of the door, then quickly finds another pipe large enough, on the other side of the door, to hold the other end of the broom securely in place.

Part 3-Jayson to the Rescue?

Gabriel's soft, gentle voice breaks through the silence, “They are on their way.” I tiptoe back over to my bed and look down to Gabriel as he continues, “They said a lot of crazy stuff has been happening tonight.” He looks into my eyes before asking, “Are you ok?”

No! No, I am not ok! Someone is in my house. My sister is in my room, and I'm waiting for a scary horror character to jump out and kill us both! To top it all off, Megan is hogging Mr. Wiggles! I softly whisper down to him, “Yeah, I'm ok.” Looking over to Megan I realize she is not ok. Tears are streaming down her face and Mr. Wiggles is being squeezed so hard it looks like his head is about to pop off. I can't let that happen. Whispering loud enough for her to hear, “Megan, get in the closet.” I see the confusion on her face. After a lot of doubt clouding her eyes, I finally tell her, “There is a secret, small door in the bottom of it. It leads to Ramon's old apartment.” She now runs to the closet and eagerly goes in without any hesitation.

She turns around long enough to whisper back to me, “Come on, Vince.” Fine, I guess it's time for me to go into the closet, instead of coming out of the closet. Bahaha, get it? Yeah, yeah, I know. God that is a stupid, immature joke, Vince. Hey! I have the right to be stupid and immature at the moment, thank you very much. My closet is quite large, thanks to my parents for the walk in closet design, lol. I help her open the secret door to my old friend's house. Ramon and I built the little door to go over the vent entrance. It gave it more of an adventure type of feel. We both loved to game so it made our days to use secret vent doors to each other's room. I really don't care what you guys are thinking about this whole door thing, Ramon and I were happy, immature, gaming boys and we enjoyed every moment of it. So keep your judgement to yourselves. He moved away two months ago to live with his grandparents after his abusive father was finally thrown in jail, for other charges, but whatever works. Ramon's safe and happy, so really that's all that matters. Even though his grandparents live all the way in England, we still chat on our phone with each other. Friends for life, that is the pledge all of my friends and myself live by.

Megan is now waiting at the entrance for me to join her. There is something missing, looking around my room I try to figure out what I need to grab before leaving it. I start to do a check list.....Phone, check.......Mr. Wiggles, Megan still is holding onto him, check.....backpack, it has my money in it, check.......snacks and drinks…check… Hey, you never know, best to be safe than sorry. What am I forgetting? I look around the room, then it hits me. I can't leave Cuddles here. Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want. I didn't name him, Megan did. We wanted a puppy. My parents told us we could have one, but....I got to choose the puppy and Megan got to chooses the name. We just got him and no I didn't choose a fierce, big dog. I had to get a small one since that is what is on the apartment agreements for dogs. So, we have a silver, min-pint. What can I say, he's to cute to turn down.

Apparently cuddles is more scared than we are. I see a shivering, little bump under my sheet. As I reach for him, someone starts to bang on my bedroom door. I rip the sheet off my bed, grab Cuddles and dash to Megan's side. She is now racing through the little door and into the long, dark tunnel to Ramon's old apartment. What we are in use to be part of the heat\cooling system, but it was shut down a while back and we now use window units to cool and heat our apartments.

The tunnel is so dark I can not even see Megan crawling in front of me. Small, dark tunnel with no light at the end of it. There is something I forgot to tell her, what was it? Oh yeah, don't go straight, you have to turn right at the first right turn. Dang it! I can't see my hand in front of my face, let alone a right tunnel. It becomes obvious we missed the turn. Megan pushes on the small vent cover in front of her. Ramon's room has a small door on his vent entrance, just like mine.

I hear her frustration building as she continues to push on the vent cover. “Why won't it open!?” Grabbing at her feet, I try to move her enough to see what's outside the vent. Where ever we were there was lights on in the room. Then it hits me as I hear a familiar sound, something I hear every day. Keychains rattling against each other. I pull on Megan’s leg, “Do you hear that?”

She stops pushing on the vent. After a few silent seconds of listening she finally says, “Yes, it has to be Jayson.”

I nod in agreement to her answer, but as I go to tell her to call out to him...A very high pitched scream echoes through the hallway in front of us. Yes, I figure Jayson is on his way to our apartment, which implies we are looking out into our hallway to all the apartments on this side of the tenth floor. Our hallway is just down to the right of this one. We have to get his attention and stop him now.

I look down to Gabriel, who appears to be walking somewhere, and state, “I need to call Jayson.” He looks to me with a worried expression upon his face as I continue, “He is walking down to my apartment now. I need to stop him.”

He nods his head as he opens and door. In a very confident voice he tells us, “I will meet all of you outside of the apartment building.” I hear a car door open as he continues, “I am on my way to get you.”

Yeah, I know, important things are happening in the hallway but I can’t help it. My boyfriend said he is on his way to get me…...I may have melted into a giant water puddle if it wasn’t for my sister yelling out, “Hurry up and call Jayson, Love Bug!”
I grumble a few non existing words under my breath as I hang up with Gabriel and quickly find Jayson’s name and wait silently for an answer.

“Hello?” Jayson’s voice sounds a little different. I am guessing he found our front door. After only a second and yet fast enough to prevent me from saying a word, he yells out, “Man, what happened to your door?! Are you ok?!”

Oh my God, I have to shut him up and fast. “Jayson, listen to me. Don’t ask questions until we are together. Get back down the hallway, near the elevator and pronto.” I wait and hold my breath as seconds seem more like hours as we wait in total silence for him to get back near the vent. We finally hear his keychains once again. This time, they are much louder which implies he is running.

I hear Megan yell out to him, “Jayson!”

Looking over Megan’s body I see a quick glimpse of Jayson’s legs walking past the vent towards the elevators. “Jayson, stop!” Without giving him any spare time to say anything, I finally tell him through the phone, “We are in the vent to the left of the elevators.”

He comes over to the vent. I see him turn on his flashlight and peer into us, and now I’m blinded. Really! “Why are you in there?”

I figured why not, I can’t resist. “Megan wanted to know what it was like to be a mouse in a vent.”

I hope you are enjoying the sort so far. Please leave a comment or even tell me you favorite character,    scene or sentence :) Enjoy.

Part 2-Where's My Phone?

I try to stand again, this time she lets go of my arm and whispers, “Check your phone first.”

Duh, that's what I told her I was going to do! Sigh, yeah, I know....she's scared. Getting to my bed was the easy part.....but my phone wasn't on the nightstand beside it. Dang it, I forgot I fell asleep talking to my boyfriend last night. I start to throw my blankets around and the search for my cellphone was now officially on.

As I grab my pillow and throw it onto the pile of blankets that now took over my floor, I hear her mumble under her breathe, “You lose your phone so much you should just tie it to your leg.”

I take a few deep breathes before calmly stating to her, “You’re just jealous you don't have a hot boyfriend like me.”

A loud gasp comes from her, as I finally find my phone. “Got it. Now I will just check to see if Jayson called or texted while I was sleeping.“ Looking down at my phone screen I soon became paralyzed.I swear to God, I couldn't even breath. Sweat starts to drip down the side of my check as I stare into the most beautiful, brown eyes ever.

Megan's fear is now gone, at least for the moment. She is now laughing her butt off. Yeah, I think she gets the picture.

I forgot I was still on video chat with Gabriel. To top it all off, I forgot to turn off the video chat before falling asleep. I think you understand now....just like Megan gets it as well. Gabriel's heart throbbing smile is all I can see and now the room is spinning as he says, “Good morning, Beautiful.” That did it, I'm now an embarrassed, pile of mush. “Sleep well?” I am pretty sure my face turned bright red.

Stumbling over my words and thoughts, I whisper under my breathe, “Ye..e..a..h *cough* yeah. You?”

The banging on the front door vanished from my thoughts as I smiled like an embarrassed puppy at my phone. Until the next loud noises took its place. *Crack, bang, crash! What the........ I run to my door with my phone still in my hand. As I get to it, I make sure it's locked and secured then turn back to Megan. “Megan, help me move the dresser in front of the door!”

She nods her head before throwing Mr. Wiggles onto the bed. We both grab the largest dresser in the room and start to slide it across the floor. Thank God I don't have carpets or this would be a lot harder to do. The dang thing weighs a ton, but at least it should help hold off the robbers. At this point, that is what I am thinking is going on, and so does Grabiel. I hear him yelling out to me, “Hold on, I'm calling the police from the house phone!” Megan and I get the dresser against the door the best we could.

Another thing you might be wondering is.....where is my parents and baby brother? I forgot earlier, when I wondered why Megan came into my room instead of one of the others. The rest of the family is already at work and daycare. I and Megan are in charge of getting ourselves off to school. That being said, we are home alone and someone just broke our door down. Yes, now is the time to panic. Or at least scream and hide.....ok, no, I will not be screaming and hiding. Not with Gabriel on the phone. If he wasn't on the phone....maybe. Yeah, I most likely would be screaming and crying like Megan was earlier, but what good would that do? None, so I shall sit here on my bed and watch my phone screen as my sexy boyfriend talks to the police. Wow, he really is sexy, especially with the morning, messed up, long, shoulder length, black hair look going on. I could just lay here and stare at him forever..

“Vince!” Dang it, I forgot Megan was in the room. Sigh, I guess dream gazing at my boyfriend will have to wait till later. She is giving me a very worried look.

Sitting my phone onto the bed beside me, I finally collect my thoughts and fears as I look over to her, back in the corner......and yet again with Mr. Wiggles. “What?” I mean, come on now, I did everything I can to make sure we are both safe in here. There's nothing more I can do till the police arrive to save our butts. What could she possibly want now.

She slowly stands up, while whispering, “I don't hear anything.”

She's right. The apartment is now nothing but silence....A very eerie silence. The kind of silence you hear in horror movies right before the murder jumps out and kills someone, that kind of silence. Yes, I am now scanning my room from top to bottom with my baseball bat in my hand. I refuse to be a victim in a murder screen. I watched too many horror shows to not know what to do in these type of situations. First thing I learned, never be alone. You would have a greater chance of survival if you have a good bait friend. Yes, I said it, a good bait friend. Yet, sadly I have no good bait friend at the moment. So my sister will have to do..... I'm just kidding. My parents would kill me if I used my sister as a bait friend.

Second thing, never turn your back to a window or door. Best place to keep your back is against a wall, unless it's ghost or demons. If ghost or demons, you're screwed no matter what you do.

Third and final thing to remember. Never, ever turn your back to run. Learn to run backwards. It's possible, at least I think it is. Come on now, I'm sure you have seen horror shows. You know, the ones where the victim turns to run then ends up with a weapon through some part of their body. Yeah that kind of horror scene. Learn to run backwards. Also, learn to block with any object you may find. You know, for best results for your running backwards technique to work.

And So it Begins....

Some days, I wonder why I am alive. Other days, I am surprised I am alive.

This is a mixed day, a little of both thrown into one very long and horrifying nightmare.
It all started like normal, then something out of the ordinary happened and changed it...Now, I don't know how to get it back to normal.

Well let's start from the very beginning. When my alarm went off and my family started their normal, boring routine of getting up and ready for a normal day of work and school.

*Clock buzzing*

First things first. I am not a morning person. Yes, I grabbed my clock and turned off the alarm, but here is the difference in me and morning people. I shoved it under my pillow and then drifted back off to sleep.See, not a morning person. There is one thing that does make me wake up early in the morning, wide awake, and that happened this morning, a loud bang.... Not the slamming a car door type of bang, but the bang as if a gun went off.

I was now wide awake, sitting up and looking across my room to my window. I didn't move. I figured if it was a real gun going off, I would hear it again....but I didn't.Ok, no more late night snacks for me. Grabbing my comforter I slowly lay back down to get more sleep.

This is when my sister decides to jump scare me. She is now screaming and begging for me to let her in. “Vince, open the door! Please! Hurry, let me in....”Oh man why? Why me? Out of all other family members in the house, why is she at my door? She is now banging on my door with both of her hands, as I am slowly....unhappily, getting up out of bed.

I open my door just enough to yell at her, “Why?!” This was my first big mistake, I have done this many times before and even though I knew she was going to do this, in the back of my mind, I still opened the door enough for her to shove her way past me and into my room. “Why not Mom, Dad or even our baby brother Tyler? Why do you always come to my room?!”

I calm down a little as I grumble under my breathe, “Nevermind....what is wrong, Megan?” Silence fills the room as I shut my door and turn to face her. Fear is all you see when you look into her big, green eyes. She is now cowering in the corner near my window, holding onto Mr. Wiggles.

Ok, ok, let me first explain who Mr. Wiggles is. I know you are all most likely thinking...What is a sixteen year old boy doing with a stuffy in his room. Well, here you go. Mr. Wiggles is a stuffed pig, he is small enough to fit in my hand. *cough* My boyfriend, yes I'm gay, gave him to me as a five month anniversary present. Happy now? Ok, back to the story.

Megan is now cowering in the corner with Mr. Wiggles. I kid you not, I have NEVER seen my sister this scared in my life. I mean, if we could smell fear, you would smell her fear most likely from miles away. That is how scared she looks. So, now what? I don't even know why she is scared....Wait a minute.. “Megan, no one is going to steal Jackson from you.”  As I pat her shoulder I calmly point out, “Why would they? He's too big to even fit in a car.”

Alright, I know this all sounds odd. It would be to me as well. So I guess I need to introduce you to Jackson as well. Jackson is a huge stuffed bear. Our father won him for her from the county fair back when we lived in the country. Which was about four years ago. Another thing, Megan is twelve, yet she still holds onto the big bear for comfort and fears someone will one day break into our, big, city apartment to steal him. As if anyone would won't him...come on now, the dang thing is so big it wouldn't fit in our car. We drove from the country to this big city.....with a giant bear strapped down on the roof. Talk about embarrassing, try making new friends with a big bear on your parent's roof. Yeah, I still can't live that down no matter how hard I try.

Megan is now calmer, though she is still really scared, she slowly, slides down the corner and sits down. “It's not that, Stupid!” As her eyes dance back and forth from my door to the window, she starts to whisper, “Something isn't right.”

Something isn't right??? Yeah, you're in my room calling me stupid. That's what isn't right! But, I don't say anything because she still looks legit scared to death. So instead I kneel down beside her and brush her golden curls away from her face and whisper, “What's wrong, Megan?”

Her eyes are still transfixed on my door as she whispers something so softly I couldn't catch it....but then her eyes widen as someone starts to bang on our front door.

Ok, I have to admit, this is definitely not a normal morning. I start to stand up, but soon find Megan pulling me back down, while screaming at me, “Don't answer the door!” I have no idea why she would be saying this or even imagine who would be here this early in the morning.

I softly whisper to her, “Let me check my phone first to see if maybe Jayson came over early, ok?” I still try to comfort her as the banging on the front door becomes louder and more violent. “Maybe something scared him while he was walking here.”Jayson lives three blocks away, so yeah, it's possible.

Part 6- Is Tyler Safe?

Gabriel gently takes my right hand with his left hand, as Megan slowly peers out the door. The zombie is now racing down the stairs towards...
